Meet Regan Butler, a multi-talented high school senior who leads with her creativity, which was evident in her professional senior pictures. Regan is a dedicated writer, singer, musician, and leader – each role reflecting her vibrant personality and commitment to her craft. Whether she’s penning opinion pieces for her school paper or singing with her choir, Regan boldly pours her heart into everything she does. Her passion for journalism has already earned her recognition, and her writing about her choir even led to an extraordinary opportunity: an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York by a composer who was impressed by her writing.
Beyond her accomplishments in writing, Regan is a talented vocalist who has been singing since kindergarten. She continues to hone her stage presence both privately and as a member of her school choir and band. We knew that for Regan’s professional senior pictures, we had to design a session that perfectly reflected her many passions, combining elements of her love for singing and writing while exploring the area that she calls home.

The Portrait Session: Blending Light, Mood, and Personality
Regan wanted her senior portraits to blend two distinct styles: dark and moody, as well as bright and airy. To bring her vision to life, we incorporated a variety of unique locations from bright, urban rooftops, to moody stages where she posed with her microphone and an independent bookstore in Raleigh, to showcase her literary side. The senior portrait session was filled with creative energy, reflecting Regan’s charming personality and artistic spirit.
Our session was tailored to Regan in every way, from featuring her in Raleigh among rows of books at an independent bookstore, a perfect nod to Regan’s love for writing and literature, to helping her pose with ease at a coffee shop nearby, capturing her playful, thoughtful and creative side. We chose various urban locations in Downtown Cary and Downtown Raleigh, where the blend of modern cityscapes and classic elements provided the ideal backdrop for her professional senior pictures. In order to capture the bright and airy feel of her portraits, we captured Regan on a rooftop in Raleigh’s Downtown where she stood against the bright skyline, exuding confidence and her excitement for the future.
During her session, we contrasted with darker, moody scenes including incorporating a vintage stage setup to show Regan’s passion for singing. Posing with a retro microphone, she channeled her love for performance, resulting in striking images that showcase her stage presence and artistic flair. A vintage typewriter made an appearance here as well, symbolizing her love for journalism and storytelling. These personal touches added depth and meaning to the session, and by blending different styles together we created a series of senior portraits that were uniquely hers.
