A Grand Piano and a Glamorous Gold Gown at Home in Cary
We began Jyothi’s senior portrait experience at her family’s home in Cary, which gave a sentimental touch to her senior portraits. There’s no more authentic place for your senior pictures than the place you call home. Ahead of her session, we helped Jyothi choose outfits that would complement her and suit each location of her senior pictures. And for this opening session, Jyothi wore a stunning gold gown that sparkled in the soft light from the ceiling-high windows.
Jyothi is a talented pianist and is part of her school’s jazz club. So, posing with her grand piano felt necessary to show her musical side, especially as it has been such a big part of her life. She has the most beautiful face-framing natural brown curls, and these paired with her glamorous gown in the afternoon glow created a warm, elegant-yet-natural feel to her portraits. The results were breathtaking, and we loved being able to show Jyothi’s personality that came alive in portraits that reflected what she loves.

Full of Florals at Duke Gardens
Our next stop was Duke Gardens, one of the most picturesque places in the Triangle. Jyothi had wanted beautiful blooms, tons of color, and soft natural light, and Duke Gardens gave us all of that and more. With our pop-up changing tent, we were able to facilitate several outfit changes to add versatility into Jyothi’s senior pictures. While her olive jumpsuit made her glow, it was her traditional lehenga that stole the show. Jyothi’s natural beauty was highlighted by this colorful cultural outfit and not only did it represent her heritage and culture but was also a nod to her love of Bollywood and Bhangra dancing. Jyothi’s grace and quiet confidence came through in every moment and it was clear that showcasing the different aspects of her life in her senior portrait experience made it even more special for her.
Of course, every great session comes with a story, and this one involved a few too many bugs! Teresa left the session with some a surprising allergic reaction to some unfriendly insects and a timely reminder that the best senior portraits sometimes come with a little adventure! As luck would have it, Jyothi’s mom is an allergist, and Teresa was grateful for her help.

A Golden Hour Senior Portrait Session at Jordan Lake
A few days later, we met again at Jordan Lake for the final part of Jyothi’s senior portrait experience. She wanted portraits by the water and we listened! We met at golden hour by our favorite lakeside beach, with the perfect setup that helps everything feel a little magical. The lake was still and serene, with the sun setting low over the water. Jyothi wore a classic, ethereal white dress that signified her upcoming graduation and caught the glow perfectly, creating portraits that felt calm, radiant, and timeless. This part of her senior portrait session had a quiet, peaceful energy and it was a fitting way to finish her senior portraits – surrounded by light, color, and a reflective feel that represented her reflections on her time at school.
