Dear CeCe – You’re Two Months Old!

Dear CeCe,

I can’t believe it but you’re already two months old!  Outside our home everything is thawing from the winter ice and snow.  Inside it feels like we are thawing out too…the sluggishness of new parenthood is falling away, the isolation of keeping you locked away from strangers is passing through, and our minds feel clearer with more sleep and less worry!  You are crying different, more like a big kid than a newborn.  And thanks to the help of Pam the Doula you’re doing less of it too.  You’re taking naps in your bassinet rather than the swing.  You’re following us with your eyes and turning your head when we talk to you.  You had your first shots.  But what has us most excited is you are smiling and laughing A LOT!  You are even making US laugh with the silly faces you make.

Your dad is still very protective of you (I am too…but daddy wins the prize!).  The other day he threatened to throw his shoe at and chase a sweet neighbor who walked with you too far out of his comfort zone.  A few days ago I convinced him you were old enough to go visit all your aunties at Cary Academy…you are loved by so many.

You’re sleeping longer at night and we are all a better rested family this month.  Thankfully I only wake up to check your breathing a few times a night … it used to be every time you moved.  Now you feel less like a drunk college student that has to be watched at every moment.

You’re the light of so many people’s worlds.  You think your DoDad is a pretty awesome guy who makes you laugh.  Your MiMi provides the best snuggles (well, except for your daddy and me!).  We call you baby Prozac because just holding you puts everything in perspective and makes people happy.

If it is even possible for you to imagine, we actually love you more every day.  Some days I’m not sure where to put all this love it feels so big inside my chest.  Not a thought enters my head that isn’t about you.  You have made our ordinary, every day life in to something beautiful and just like Spring we are waiting to see what fabulous colors you’ll paint our world with next.
