Every family brings its own story, style, and personality to a portrait session, and with The Gibsons, that spirit was unmistakable. For their fall family portraits in Raleigh, they chose the North Carolina Museum of Art as their backdrop, a place where the striking architecture and peaceful outdoor spaces felt perfectly suited to their artistic nature.

This family of four, along with their Labradoodle, Flora, radiated warmth and creativity throughout the session. Their closeness, humor, and love for one another came through in every portrait, making it a joy to capture them together and tell their story in family pictures.

The Warmth of Family Connection

The Gibsons are an artsy, deeply creative family, so the North Carolina Museum of Art was the perfect choice. Its modern architecture, open-air design, and surrounding landscape added both structure and softness to their family pictures. The sleek lines of the museum paired beautifully with The Gibson Family’s natural ease together, creating a balanced blend of artistry and connection, with a striking architecture in the background.

It was clear from the start that creativity runs through this family. Juana tends a garden that brings beauty and life to their home, and offers consultations to others on landscaping and gardening. While her husband designs and makes clothing, outside of his 9-5. In fact, he wore one of his own handmade pieces during the session, which added a meaningful and personal touch to their portraits. Their kids brought their own flair and fun to the session, showing off their personalities and close sibling bond but memorable ways.

Fall family pictures are best when they reflect the warmth of the season, as well as the family’s love for one another. They would not have been complete without the family dog, and we loved that Flora, the family’s Labradoodle came along to join the session. True to her sweet nature, she added an element of playfulness and coziness to the session.

Fall Family Portraits in Raleigh, with Autumnal Outfits to Complement the Season

The Gibsons chose a coordinated palette of fall colors that looked incredible against the museum’s architecture and the seasonal foliage. Warm earth tones and rich hues gave their family portraits an autumnal feel without overwhelming the images. Their outfits tied together beautifully while still letting each family member’s personality shine. The result was a collection of family pictures that feel timeless, elegant, and full of character.

What stood out most about this session was the way The Gibson Family’s closeness came through in every portrait. From quiet, tender moments between the parents and their kids, to the laughs they shared, their family pictures authentically captured this moment in their family story. Their collection of family portraits tells the story of a family that loves deeply, supports one another, and celebrates their individuality.
