The Earwood Family’s portrait session felt like spending an afternoon with old friends. And each time we work with them, it feels like adding a new chapter to their story. Having already photographed senior portraits for Payton and professional headshots and branding portraits for Amy’s dentistry practice, it was nothing short of a joy to capture their family pictures in Raleigh. The laughter came easily, and the closeness between them was palpable in every interaction, the kind of natural connection that makes a family portrait session feel effortless.
The Perfect Setting for Family Pictures in Raleigh
When planning for their family pictures in Raleigh, we wanted a location that felt calm, natural, and close to home. A park in the Raleigh / Wake Forest area offered everything they hoped for: open green spaces, soft light, and room for their dog to join in on the fun. The park’s mix of trees, trails, and soft background tones created a setting that felt warm and familiar.
Their sweet dog, Piper, was the highlight of the day. She smiles! And her smile lit up all of their family portraits, bringing so much joy to the session. Including pets helps family portraits feel more authentic, and Piper’s cheerful presence made the experience even more special for the whole family.
Timeless Outfits and Candid Moments
Just as we began shooting, the wind started to pick up. The Earwoods laughed and said it always happens when they take pictures. Somehow they always seem to bring the wind with them! The breeze worked in their favor though, adding gentle movement in their hair and clothes, which gave a natural feel to their family pictures. All in all, their connection was easy to see in every image, and we were honored to capture the love they share in photographs.
As with all of our family portrait sessions, we guided the Earwoods on selecting what to wear for family pictures, and how to choose what felt right for them and the season. The family chose navy and lighter-blue tones that coordinated beautifully and gave a classic feel to their family portraits. The color palette worked well together and created a timeless look that photographed beautifully against the warm hues of the park.

Time moves quickly, so if you’re wondering when to book your family portraits, the right time is now. There’s never a better moment to capture the love between you, the connection between your children and their family pet or the moments now before they grow up even more.
Celebrating Every Family Member
Since Payton’s senior portraits were already complete, we made sure to capture a few solo portraits of Kinsley, the Earwoods’ youngest daughter. We took a few individual portraits that captured her personality and bright smile, and now their parents have individual portraits of both their daughters, and matching artwork of their children to put on their walls. We helped the Earwoods with design guidance so their portraits would fit with their home aesthetic and celebrate both of their daughters equally, with visual memories to look back on in years to come. Creating artwork from your family portraits is a great way to remember them in this season, and to treasure this moment in the years to come.
