This spring family portrait session was also an extra special celebration. Mom and Dad were marking their 10th wedding anniversary, and we knew that the collection needed to reflect that love and commitment, as well the warm bond that the whole family shares. From carefully styled scenes to sweet, candid moments, the Norman family’s portrait session captured it all.

We’re With You Every Step of the Way: From Wardrobe Consultations to Family Portraits through to Artwork Installation
Every family portrait session at My Friend Teresa Studios begins with our planning meeting, where we get to know you and what you’re looking for. For the Normans, we followed up with our design meeting, where we visited their home in Garner, NC, to help plan co-ordinating outfits that would work across multiple locations and settings, ultimately conveying their family’s story. We believe that family photography should feel easy and enjoyable, starting from the very first step.
The session began with a quiet morning just for Mom at our Downtown Cary studio. It was a time to focus on her as an individual, which every parent can agree is a rarity, especially during family photos! From her beautiful hair and makeup session to her individual portraits, we focused on elegance and making her feel special (because she is!), and setting the tone for what would become a standout collection of family pictures.
Next, we joined the family at a stunning penthouse suite in Raleigh, NC, with floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views. The space was the perfect backdrop for more formal family portraits that felt like a statement. We also captured romantic couple portraits of Mom and Dad as part of their anniversary celebration, and we loved seeing their love for one another. As a couples photographer, we love to tell your story and be part of your celebration. These couples portraits reflected the connection and history between the two of them, separate from the busy energy of parenthood.
We finished the Normans’ family portrait session with a golden hour visit to Jordan Lake, with the kids in tow. The soft sand and glowing light created a peaceful space for relaxed family photos. The boys ran along the beach, played catch with their dad, and shared sweet giggles with their mom. These candid moments gave the collection variety and warmth, bringing the family’s love to the forefront in a light and airy way.
Part of the difference in being a full-service photography studio is that we don’t just create gorgeous family portraits (though we do that, too), but we’ll even help you selecting artwork for your home and installing the final pieces on your walls! We loved getting to see the final result in the Norman family’s home, serving as a reminder to them of this moment in their family’s journey.
