Introducing Mia
Meet Mia Harper, a senior at Apex Friendship High School with a creative soul, a love for nature, and a budding photographer to boot. When she shared her dream for her senior photography session, we knew it would be special and we couldn’t wait to bring it to life. She envisioned getting lost in a wide-open field, surrounded by airy sunlight, wildflowers, and soft earth tones. With rustic touches, a little country charm, and a relaxed, romantic vibe, her session captured the essence of late summer in North Carolina.
The Process
Mia’s senior portrait experience began, like always, with our planning meeting. She was full of ideas and inspiration, and so were we! As someone interested in photography herself, she brought a thoughtful Pinterest board and a clear vision. We were excited to guide her through the process and encourage her own creativity, while bringing our expertise to make sure that it all came together and would look flawless in the final collection of senior portraits.
After our planning meeting, and with a clear vision in mind, we visited Mia’s home for her design meeting. This is where we help choose outfits that complement the season, the light, and the landscape, but most importantly, that help our seniors look and feel their best. The first look was a classic: a flowing white dress paired with her favorite cowboy boots. It was everything her country-inspired Pinterest board had called for. Having chosen a location with tall wheat grass, soft florals, and timing her session just right for the golden hour light, this outfit would beautifully bring together her personality and the theme.
For her second look, we helped Mia choose a neutral top and jeans that captured the relaxed, girl-next-door feel that she was looking for. As her senior portrait session would take place in late summer/early fall, we encouraged Mia to choose her third outfit based on which season she would prefer to feature more prominently in her senior portraits.

Mia’s Senior Portrait Session: Boho, Country, and Golden Hour Light
Mia’s senior photography took place in Wake Forest, NC, where the fields stretched wide and the warm light wrapped around everything just right. Mia braved the North Carolina heat (and the bugs that came with it!), staying cheerful and focused through every part of the shoot. We moved through the tall grass as the sun dipped lower in the sky, capturing professional senior pictures that felt dreamy and timeless, and most importantly, true to who she is.
Mia’s love of photography made this session extra special and collaborative. She understood the light, noticed the small moments, and trusted our process completely. It is always a joy to capture senior portraits, but photographing someone who appreciates the artistry of it all was the icing on the cake. For us, the beauty of senior photography is being able to capture each senior authentically and visually tell their story along the way. We loved seeing Mia’s style come through in every image, but the magic lies in the connection that we created through trust, creativity, and shared vision.
