BABY GIRL_35

Sweet CeCe (or “CeCe Snowflake” as your dad has started calling you; he is convinced you’re coming on Christmas) – We’re so excited that you’re about to be in our arms.  It took me a long time to believe that you were real.  Even longer to believe that you were really going to grow and be our healthy baby girl.  Now we’re two short months away from your due date and every time you kick it is a jolt straight to my heart that says “hi mom, I’m here!”.

Every day we’re getting more and more ready to meet you.  I’ve felt a little crazypants about getting everything p.e.r.f.e.c.t. for you.  As I type this your daddy is getting everything ready to paint your nursery.  We’re painting it blue; I hope you don’t look back in fifteen years and think we were terribly weird to paint your little girl’s room blue.  Who am I kidding, at fifteen we’re probably going to be terribly weird no matter what we do.  Your dad DOES love to belt in to song at random and your mom DOES love to dance at awkward times.

The truth is other than getting your nursery right, we’re not sure what the hell we’re doing.    I can’t figure out how I am going to sleep the first night we bring you home – I can’t picture anything other than just staring at you, measuring your every breath.  I’m not sure how this whole breastfeeding thing works (honestly, it sounds quite strange!).  What do babies wear to bed?  How often do you eat?  Then there are the big questions like . . .when you’re a preteen and want to wear makeup . . . should we let you?  Basically CeCe, everything past “go to the hospital when the contractions are 5 minutes apart” seems like a big question mark.

Here is what we do know.  We know everything is about to change.  We know the day we found out we were having you was one of the happiest days of our lives.  We know that we will love you no matter what.  No matter what you do, or who you love, or what you want to be when you grow up.  We know that you were conceived in love.  We know that every day your daddy and I have together feels like the luckiest day of our lives and when we have you in our arms, our hearts are going to grow that much bigger.

Until then, stay put!  Your daddy isn’t finished painting the nursery yet!

Love,

Mom
