Naomi J (Cary Academy Class of 2018) is a fascinating mix of serious and silly. She is committed to her studies, particularly science, and is a passionate leader for change, taking part in multiple affinity groups, National Honors Society, and Catholic Parrish Outreach. Naomi is also fun-loving and eclectic, often times found with a massive smile on her face as she jokes around with friends. There’s no better place for her serious and silly sides to meet than in the gym. Naomi has been a gymnast for almost a decade now at Team Attractions Gymnastics, where she leads her team and cheers them on constantly. After meeting with Naomi and mom, Deborah, in early July, we knew exactly what kind of senior picture session we were looking for.

Senior Pictures Cary: Naomi J 2018

Teresa met Naomi in late August for her senior picture session in downtown Durham. Some of the locations in downtown Durham were new to us, but Naomi looked gorgeous in all of her outfits, and all the brickwork, stone, and plants as her backgrounds worked perfectly. The next day, the team decided to go a little wild and pulled out some brightly-colored chalk powder to pair with Naomi’s gymnastics-themed senior pictures. They met in Teresa’s garage, and in just a black leotard with a black background, the colors radiated off of Naomi. Some of the powder even ended up on Teresa’s camera, but it was worth it.

Teresa selected over 50 senior pictures from the session to show Naomi and her parents a few weeks later. With guidance from Teresa, Naomi chose her yearbook photos, which Teresa submitted to the Cary Academy yearbook staff on her behalf. Naomi and her parents also used the studio gallery wall to pick their favorites of the senior pictures. From these selections, they ordered the digital files of ten senior pictures to look back on in the future.

Naomi graduated in May 2018 and is headed to University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where she plans on studying biomedical engineering as a Chancellors of Science Scholar.
