Sarah Cate N (Cary Academy Class of 2018) and her mom, Mary Sue, met with us in mid-August to get to know her and find out what she wanted from her senior picture session. Although she only started a few years ago, Sarah Cate is a hardcore rower with the Triangle Rowing Club at Lake Wheeler. The practice hours are grueling, and the competition in regattas is strong as they row against over 100 teams from North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. When she’s not rowing, she works as a counselor at Camp Cheerio, and in school, she enjoys yearbook and AP psychology.
Senior Pictures Cary: Sarah Cate 2018
Teresa met Sarah Cate in mid-September at Lake Wheeler for the first part of her senior picture session. She had just finished that day’s practice, and many of her teammates were still hanging around. Sarah Cate looked beautiful in a long sleeved purple romper with the lake and surrounding plants or canoes in the background. Teresa even got some cool silhouette pictures with the sunset. Then Sarah Cate changed into black Nike shorts and a purple crew tank for some senior pictures inside of the boat shed. For the second part of Sarah Cate’s Senior Pictures Cary session, we met in downtown Cary. Teresa got some cute and quirky senior pictures of Sarah Cate on a shop’s step and at the Guess-Ogle house, donning a black and pink floral dress.
Teresa selected over 50 portraits from the session to show Sarah Cate and her parents a few weeks later. With guidance from Teresa, Sarah Cate chose her yearbook photos, which Teresa submitted to the Cary Academy yearbook staff on her behalf. Sarah Cate and her parents also used the studio gallery wall to sort the portraits into their favorites and some “maybes”. From these selections, they chose a collage print and an 11×14 canvas. Additionally, they ordered ten digital files to look back on in the future.
Sarah Cate graduated in May 2018 and is headed to University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where she plans on majoring in psychology and is committed to the rowing team.
