Alyssa was enjoying a spring break during her junior year when she received information from her school about senior portraits. Her family reviewed our website and reached out to get more information on Senior Portraits Cary. She was excited to get started on this first activity of her senior year. We were excited to hear her senior pictures ideas!
Senior Portraits Cary: Ice skating and a trip to the Farm
We talked with Alyssa’s mom by phone and gave her some overview information, then met in person with Alyssa and her family to plan her Senior Portraits Cary. We learned Alyssa loves math and has been involved in video production since 8th grade. She is an accomplished ice skater and has been skating since elementary school. She loves the ‘team’ element of synchronized skating and skates at least 5 days a week.
For her senior portraits she definitely wanted to include ice skating (a first for us!), but also some portraits in a more natural environment with trees and flowers. We got creative with our senior pictures ideas and scheduled three session dates since we had so many places to go!
With much anticipation, Justin met with Alyssa to help her pick out the perfect outfits for her sessions. From dressy, to casual, to skating – they found the perfect outfits for them all.
For her first session, Alyssa came to the studio for hair and make up services by our resident make up artist, Denise. Then it was off to our private farm property for some casual portraits complete with rustic barns and a cornfield! We selected a secret part of the farm that we had been saving where it looks like a valley of ferns, but is actually the old wagon trail. She looked amazing set against the big blue sky on top of a ladder in the corn field (thank goodness she isn’t afraid of heights!) The whole team loved going around the farm in the ‘gator’ and listening to music.
A few weeks later, we had Alyssa’s second session at the Raulston Arboretum. Poor Alyssa had suffered a concussion from tubing on a lake, so we had to get creative with the lighting so it didn’t bother her. But with many beautiful tress and flowers it was a welcome break from her quiet dark room at home.
And finally, it was on to ice skating. Alyssa had recovered from her concussion, and scheduled the session for a quiet time at the rink. We met her coach (a Paris Olympic silver meadlist!) and had the ice mostly to ourselves. She amazed us with her presentation, especially when she skated a routine with her sister. She made it look effortless.
The behind the scenes video shows our whole experience:
Alyssa and her family came to the studio a few weeks later and were thrilled to watch the video and see the big reveal! They chose her yearbook portraits, and selected their favorite portraits for a keepsake album.
The family took advantage of their free family portrait session in the fall with a session at Lake Crabtree Park They fell in love with one of the portraits and it now has a place of honor in their family room. It is a beautiful reminder of how close this family is, and how much fun they have together.
