We first met Ben when we photographed his large family for a special event. We were thrilled he reached out to us for his Senior Portraits Cary. And we loved his senior picture ideas for guys – the beach and fishing – his two passions.
Senior Portraits Cary: Fishing at the Beach
We met with Ben during the spring of his junior year (Cary Academy Class of 2020). We were especially interested in his senior picture ideas for guys: to include his passion for fishing. We learned he makes his own fishing flies! He also loves camping, hiking, and lacrosse. For his session, he wanted something fairly casual and a little bit traditional. We were excited to plan a trip to the beach to make his senior picture ideas for guys come true.
A few days before his session, we met Ben at his home to help him select clothes from his closet and to make our final beach trip plans. Ben had organized his good friend Will N, who we also did senior portraits for, to be our boat caption.
We met at a private island near Wilmington that had amazing views of the inlet. We hopped out of the boat and into the marsh for some extra spectacular portraits of him fly fishing. Storms had plagued us all day, but cleared up just in time for the session!
For a more urban vibe, we met Ben at a few locations in Raleigh. His mom Kim was a big help with lighting. Ben laughed that he knew Justin was in the parking deck because he heard him scream when a pigeon swopped down from the rafters!

A few weeks later, Ben and his family return to our studio for the big reveal. They loved the video, and the slide show of all of Ben’s portraits. Our gallery wall was really useful to help them sort and select their favorites from over 70 images.
They chose 20-30 images for a custom album, and got two grandparent books to match. They also selected a canvas grouping and the full digital collection. We delivered it all a few weeks later, and installed the canvas grouping in their home.
We had so much fun with Ben! We loved creating portraits for him that reflected him perfectly!
