Hunter M, Cary Academy Class of 2020, reached out to plan a senior portraits Cary session. This artist and theater lover got our creative juices flowing!
Senior Portraits Cary: Rock climbing, tech theater and colorful art
We met Hunter in the spring of Hunter’s junior year. Art, especially drawing and creating stained glass is an important creative outlet for Hunter. Rock climbing at Triangle Rock Club and tech theater at the Cary Academy theater also keep Hunter busy.
For senior portraits Cary it was important to Hunter to contrast masculine and feminine, and to feature art, rock climbing and tech theater. Settings could be urban or natural…or a little of both! Teresa got busy planning a couple of perfect locations and Justin helped Hunter select and style clothing.
With special help from a friend (and studio client) Naya C, Hunter went from glam to gritty all in the same session. We started at a rock-climbing wall which had amazing light from the sunset through the trees at North Cary Park. Hunter and Naya jumped from rock to rock with ease (much to our trepidation down below!).
Then we went to Cary Academy where we used Naya and Hunter’s tech skills to customize our lighting. We found our way to the catwalk about the theater – even in 20 years of being affiliated with Cary Academy, Teresa had never been up there before!
A few days later we met for another session this time in downtown Raleigh. Despite an epic bit of traffic and a pressing rehearsal schedule, we manage a quick session at some favorite locations. We love the colorful background to make a statement for Hunter’s yearbook photograph.
Then we headed to Jordan Lake for a particular scene in Hunter’s video. It was especially chilly and Justin had to stay standing in place in the water while Hunter changed clothes so that the video would be seamless.
Hunter and family returned to the studio a few weeks later to view the portraits and video. They loved them all and chose a collection of digital files.
