Kate P (Cary Academy Class of 2018) contacted us about her senior portraits in early July, and we met with her and mom, Jean, to get to know her. In high school, Kate was a student council leader and participated in cross country and lacrosse. As the daughter of a graphic designer and architect, it makes sense that Kate has a love for art, focusing in mix media and pop art, and volunteers at camps run at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Kate is naturally outgoing and casual, so we wanted to bring out her personality and love of art through her senior portraits.

Senior Portraits Cary: Kate P 2018

Teresa met Kate in late July at the North Carolina Museum of Art for her senior portraits. Kate looked beautiful in a light gray t-shirt and blue jeans surrounded by shades of gray, blue, and green from the buildings and scenery. She then changed into a powder blue top that sat off her shoulders. The neutral and light tones were gorgeous paired with the urban settings. We also traipsed down to downtown Raleigh to get some senior portraits at the Contemporary Art Museum. How perfect for this artist to have two art museums in one senior portrait session!

Teresa selected over 50 senior portraits from the session to show Kate and her parents a few weeks later. With guidance from Teresa, Kate chose her yearbook photos, which Teresa submitted to the Cary Academy yearbook staff on her behalf. Kate and her parents used the studio gallery wall to sort through the senior portraits and chose to order one digital file.

Kate graduated in May 2018 and is headed to University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where she is interested in studying business administration with a possible minor in media and journalism. She’s also excited to be trying out French for the first time after studying Spanish through elementary, middle, and high school.
