In the spring of her junior year, Madi S started to plan her Senior Portraits Cary. She received information from her school about high school senior photos and gave us a call.
Senior Portraits Cary: Fire Trucks, Fur Babies, and Tap Dancing
We met with Madi just before the end of her junior year at Cary Academy (Class of 2019) and were excited to learn that Madi has been tap dancing for 10 years with Triangle Academy of Dance. We had just created our ‘wet set’ (a unique use of water to show movement in photographs) and Madi was the perfect choice for a session there.
Madi also had some senior picture ideas, in particular, to use her fur babies…two adorable Dobermans. By the end of her planning meeting at our studio we had some great ideas for a combination of urban and small town vibes, and of course the doggies and some tap dancing.
A few days before her session, with met with Madi at her home to help her select her senior pictures outfits, and to review our plans for her sessions…no stress on portrait day with all the decisions made!
For her first session, we met Madi in downtown Apex. Justin talked to the firemen at the Apex Fire Department and they let us photograph near the antique fire engine from the 1930s. Madi’s red dress was a perfect match for the fire engine!
We continued the session around downtown Apex and Madi’s pink shirt was a nice compliment to the blooming crepe myrtles. The last part of the session was at Jordan Lake at a special secluded spot, Her two Dobermans both clearly enjoyed the outing….so much that they really wanted to jump in the water to cool off!
The final part of Madi’s session was at our private wet set. Madi was brave enough to tap dance in the shallow water puddle….a nice nod to her cute sailor outfit. It seemed like a funny senior picture idea….but it worked perfectly to show her movement and love of dance.
A few weeks after her session, Madi and her family returned to view her portraits and the behind the scenes video. They chose a beautiful black and white portrait for a framed print, along with her yearbook portraits. They also chose the full digital collection so that they could have every one of the nearly 50 images, and the video.
When Madi’s family celebrated her graduation, we were there to take some family portraits (included with a senior portrait fusion session) so that they could remember that special day together. Their ‘FaLaLaLaLa’ sign made for the perfect holiday card image. We loved everyone dressed in NCSU red!
Madi is off to her adventure at NCSU. Next up is younger brother Ken in a few years!
