Looking forward to her senior year, Nisma (Cary Academy, Class of 2021) was excited to be one of the first to book her senior portraits Cary with us.  Her older sister Salma (Class of 2019) had a great experience with us and we were thrilled to meet Nisma and to work with the family again.

Senior Portraits Cary:  Protests lead to perfect

We met with Nisma and her mom during the winter of her junior year to plan her Senior Portraits Cary.  We learned that Nisma loves swimming year-round and is competitive elite.  For fun, she loves to cook and bake.  She especially enjoys being outdoors, either in the city or in a more natural setting, and is adventurous, but careful.  Her friends describe her as ‘open-hearted’.

For her senior portrait session, Nisma did not want anything super posed or dressy.  She loves simple colors and anything that’s not too perfect.

A little before her first session, we met with Nisma at her home to ‘shop her closet’ for her session.  One less thing to think about!

On her session date, we had planned to meet Nisma in downtown Raleigh.  At the very last minute (literally as we were driving there) we had to switch up locations due to some protestor activity that was taking place.  We had just passed by a new mural at Mission Valley and jumped at the chance to use it.  Sometimes the unexpected is the perfect solution!  To add to the fun, there was a guy there with a camera on a tripod doing a dance with his shoes off.  Apparently, he makes funny You Tube videos of shoes.  We had fun joking with him.  We also found some sunflowers that hung over the sidewalk on our walk back, and it was the perfect end to this protest-disrupted session.  We all knew that being flexible gave us the chance to take some amazing portraits.

Here’s a behind the scenes look at Nisma’s session:

When they returned to the studio a few weeks later to view the portraits, Nisma and her family were thrilled.  Nisma chose her yearbook images, and the family selected their favorite image for some canvas wall art.

We loved making Nisma’s vision for her senior portraits come to life!
