Planning ahead pays off! Summer H was one of our VIP clients (Ravenscroft, Class of 2021) for Senior Portraits Cary. By registering with us in the fall of her Junior year, she got first choice of summer session dates and a big discount on our popular senior portrait fusion session when we opened our books in January of her junior year.
Senior Portraits Cary: Tennis balls, Flower Gardens, and Satellite Murals
We met with Summer to get to know her and what she was looking for in her senior portraits Cary. Summer shared with us that she is an avid tennis player, and loves photography, travelling, and science. She is active in her school’s women in science program, so we connected her with our studio manager, Helen, who is also a scientist!
For her senior portraits, she wanted to include some flower fields, urban colorful murals, and tennis. Mom wanted some dramatic ‘dressed up’ studio portraits along with some more casual portraits.
Summer had a busy summer planned, so we set her design visit (where we help select outfits) for just before school ended in May, and her two portrait session dates a few weeks later in June.
Summer’s first session started with hair and makeup services with our in-house artist, Denise. While at the studio, Teresa used some dramatic lighting to get some Vanity Fair-style portraits in two different black dresses (one that Summer chose and one her mom loved).
Then it was off to our first location: an urban park with mural-style, decorated satellite dishes. So much fun to climb on!
We were excited that the next location had fresh graffiti that said ‘nerd’ everywhere! It was perfect for our Science-loving nerdy senior. While downtown, we both got down on the ground of a sketchy (but gorgeous) stairwell. Our idea that Summer could put her legs up on the wall was dashed when her pants were just loose enough to fall down when she was upside down! Also we had to keep moving for people who were on their way to get a delicious burrito. Laughs all around!
We ended her session in a field of wildflowers where even mom snuck into a few portraits.
A few weeks later, we scheduled a session at a local tennis court. The session ended with us dumping a bucket of tennis balls on her…and she had the hard job of not blocking her face!Check out the behind-the-scenes video of Summer’s sessions:
Summer and her family returned to the studio a few weeks later to watch the behind-the-scenes video and a slideshow of all her portraits. Then they got to enjoy the ‘big reveal’ of all of her images on our studio display wall. They just couldn’t part with any of them, so they purchased the digital collection.
We enjoyed welcoming Summer into our ‘family’ and look forward to her future accomplishments.
