Meet Lily and Maddie, athletic high school seniors and inseparable twins with a mutual love of cheerleading and ice hockey. Their senior portraits were a fitting celebration of their sisterly bond and shared interests, taking place in the colorful, urban backdrop of Downtown Raleigh, Downtown Durham and the surrounding areas.
Whether on the bleachers, the top of the cheerleading pyramid or practicing hockey together, Lily & Maddie’s twin bond is unmistakable.
The Portrait Session: Sisterhood, A Bond like No Other
Lily and Maddie’s senior portraits beautifully captured their inextricable relationship, while also celebrating their individual personalities. Their energetic spirits bounced off the buzzing environment of Downtown Raleigh and provided a perfect setting to highlight their love for cheerleading and their journey as athletes. All in all, this helped to create a memorable experience that was filled with fun, creativity and celebrated their closeness.
We began the session in the heart of Downtown Raleigh, where the city’s bustling streets and vibrant murals set the stage for capturing the twins’ playful energy. As they posed together, their sisterly bond was evident, with shared smiles and joy that radiated through each frame. The colorful urban backdrop complemented their dynamic personalities and showcased their connection to their hometown.
Both Lily and Maddie are dedicated cheerleaders for their school, Cary High School, and we enjoyed capturing them in their school environment and in their cheerleading outfits, which added an authentic, personal touch to their collection of senior portraits. Their athleticism doesn’t stop there though. They have a long history of playing ice hockey, and have been honing their skills since they were both nine years old. Having played for teams like Polar, the Junior Hurricanes, and most recently, the North Carolina Trailblazers Women’s organization, we knew that we needed to showcase their sportsmanship in their senior pictures. Their athleticism and team spirit were beautifully captured in their portraits, reflecting their commitment and love for their sports.

Lily’s Session: Effortless and Elegant
Lily’s session featured a blend of neutral tones and natural settings, with a focus on cityscapes, wildflowers, and the perfect golden-hour light. We captured her in simple yet sophisticated urban backdrops that highlighted her down-to-earth personality. From walking along tree-lined streets to posing among wildflowers bathed in the soft sunset, Lily’s session reflected her love for nature and portrayed a serene, upmarket earthy aesthetic.
Maddie’s Session: Bold and Colorful
Maddie’s session took us to Downtown Durham, where she posed on a rooftop with the iconic Durham bull in the background. The vibrant murals and urban scenery added a lively contrast to her portraits. Maddie’s love for bold, colorful environments shone through as we captured her dynamic personality against the city’s lively backdrop. The combination of the rooftop skyline and colorful street art made Maddie’s portraits unique to her interests and added a new dimension to the twins’ senior pictures.
